Jimmy Hubbard became the men’s basketball program’s fourth All-American in 2000, and the first in Division II.  He followed by becoming the program’s first two-time All-American, earning third-team honors in 2001.  The 6-6 forward led the Cavaliers basketball squad in virtually every statistical category as a freshman.  He led in points (536), points per game average (16.8), rebounds (203), rebound average (6.3), 3-point baskets (56) and 3-point field goal percentage (.421).  As a sophomore, Hubbard finished second in scoring.  He also helped the Cavaliers capture its first NJCAA National Championship, and post a school record mark of 30-6.  He averaged 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in the tournament, and was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team.  Hubbard also earned East Jayhawk All-Conference honors, and was twice voted the top player in Region VI Division II.  Hubbard became just the seventh player to top 1,000 points for his career.  He finished tied for fourth all-time with 1,045.  Hubbard averaged 15.8 points a game over his career, and scored in double figures 54 times, including 24 games with 20 or more points.  He also became just the fourth player to hit more than 100 three-point baskets in his career.  He finished with 130, the second highest total in school history.  Hubbard signed with the University of Cincinnati and played two seasons under Bob Huggins.  Hubbard was part of a Bearcats team that won a conference title, set a school record for wins with 31 and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.  He was named to the Legion of Excellence for outstanding performance by a scholar athlete.
