OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore outfielder Anthony Amicangelo was named first-team All-American by the National Athletic Association (NJCAA) earlier this week. He is the 15th player in team history be selected All-American, and just the fourth to earn first-team honors.  Earlier this year he was selected first-team All-Region VI, first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference and was voted his team's MVP. 

Amicangelo, an signee at the University of South Carolina, batted.492 (91-for-185) with 23 doubles, five triples, six home runs, 62 runs scored and 68 RBIs. His .492 average led the conference and ranked second in the NJCAA. It also is the second-best recorded in JCCC history. Amicangelo led the team in hits, doubles, RBIs, multiple-hit games (29) and multiple-RBI games (21). His 91 hits and 29 multi-hit games are third most in team history. 

Amicangelo ranked second in the conference in hits, led the conference in doubles, tied for fifth in triples, and tied for third in RBIs. He opened the season with a 17-game hitting streak which is the sixth longest. He followed that with a record-tying 24-game streak.
