OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 8-ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team held Fort Scott Community College to just six points the final 11 minutes of the second half Saturday afternoon, helping the Cavaliers rally for a 66-55 victory in their conference opener. 

Johnson County opened the second half facing a 12-point deficit, but managed to claw their way back into the game and eventually take control. 

"We were a little soft in the first half," said JCCC head coach Mike Jeffers. "We really responded in the second half and defended. David (Turner) had a big game, and Lukas (Milner), Nick Larkin and Nic Slavin were big factors for us in the second half." 

Turner led the Cavaliers with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including a 3-pointer, and 4-of-6 at the free throw line. He also eight rebounds and three blocked shots. 

Milner scored all seven of his points in the second half, and Slavin and Larkin contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. Larkin also dished out seven assists. 

Johnson County (18-3/1-0) will host No. 4-ranked Highland Community College (19-1/1-0) tonight at 7:30 p.m.  This game was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, Jan. 23, but was postponed due inclement weather. The Scotties were able to hold off Labette Community College, 72-70 Saturday in their conference opener.
