OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – No. 2 seed Johnson County Community College (31-4) will face No. 1 seed Kirkwood Community College tonight ay 7:30 CST to determine 2019 NJCAA Division II national champion. The game will be streamed live on the NJCAA TV network ($4.99). Video replays are also available on the NJCAA website. 

The Cavaliers punched their ticket to the game by defeating No. 14 seed Cecil College 81-78 in overtime last night. Meanwhile, Kirkwood beat fourth-seeded Erie 84-70 in the other semifinal Friday night. 

This is Johnson County's third appearance in the final game. They won titles in 2001 and 2009. Kirkwood is sixth championship appearance. They won titles in 1998 and 2016, and were runner-up in 2005, 2006 and 2009. The Cavaliers defeated the Eagles for the championship in 2009, 63-49. 

In JCCC's win over Cecil, four of the Cavaliers' starters finished in double figures. Sophomore guard General Williams was the team's top scorer for the second time in the tournament. He poured in 23 points, hitting 9-of-18 shots, including three treys, and two free throws. 

Sophomore guard David Turner finished with 20 points and seven boards. He was 6-of-10 from the field and 8-of-13 at the free throw line.  Sophomore guard Nick Larkin followed with 18 points and sophomore forward Xavier Womack posted a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. 

McKale Williams led Cecil with 22 points, and Jacob Falko and Shylier Ringgold each had 14 points. 

With the win, Johnson County improved to 31-4 on the season, setting a new team record for victories. The previous record of 30 was set by the 2001 national championship team.
