OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team ran its unbeaten streak to 9-0 with a pair of win at the JCCC Classic over the weekend. Johnson County opened the classic with a 105-69 drubbing of Washburn University JV Friday evening, and capped the weekend with an 84-56 win over Metropolitan Community College Saturday afternoon. 

In the win over Washburn JV, seven players for the Cavaliers scored in double figures, led by sophomore guard JaQuaylon Mays. He hit 6-of-10 shots and 3-of-5 free throws for 15 points. He also dished out a career high nine assists and grabbed three rebounds.  

Freshman guard Braijion Barnes poured in 14 points off the bench. He also hit 6-of-10 shots along with both free throw attempts. He added six boards, four assists and two steals as well. 

Sophomore center Lukas Milner put up an impressive line. He was 6-of-7 with a free throw for 13 points, along with seven rebounds and three blocks. 

Other in double digits were sophomore guard Kylan Thomas (12 points), sophomore guard Macaleb Hughes (10 points) ,  freshman guard Dale Talley III (10 points) and freshman forward Skyler Rhoads (10 points). 

As a team, Johnson County shot 64 percent and outrebounded the Ichabods 35-to-21. 

In the win over Metropolitan, Thomas had the hot hand, hitting 10-of-12 shots and finished with a season-high 23 points. 

Sophomore guard Nic Slavin hit 6-of-8 shots and all three of 3-point attempts to post 15 points in the win, and Mays followed with 13 points and led the team with seven rebounds and five assists. 

Johnson County will look to improve to 10-0 Monday night when they host Baker University JV at 7 p.m.
