JCCC downs No. 13 Neosho County in double overtime

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the second time in four days the Johnson County Community College men's soccer team pulled out a victory in the final minute of double overtime.  On Wednesday, Sept. 25, JCCC freshman forward Jose Carcomo fired a game-winning shot in 109th minute past the Panther's keeper for 2-1 victor over No. 13-ranked Neosho County. 

It was Carcomo's second goal of the season, and his first game-winner. Freshman midfielder Akeem Robotham provided the assist, his first of the year. 

Neosho County got on the board first when Kansas Jayhawk Conference leading scorer Alfie Belcher scored in the 24th minute. He leads the league with 13 goals and 30 pionts. 

The Panthers held the 1-nil advantage until JCCC tied the game in the 65 minute. Freshman forward Kyle Reese found freshman defender Chavoy Malcolm for the game tying score, his first of the year.  Reese now has four assists, second-most on the team. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Pedro Ivaskoski, the KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week the past two weeks. Saved eight shots and improved his record to 7-2-1. 

Johnson County travels to Texas this weekend for two games against top-ranked teams. The face No. 2-ranked Tyler Junior College on Friday, Sept.  27, and D-III No. 1-ranked Richland College on Sunday, Sept. 29. Both teams are undefeated.  Tyler is 8-0-0 on the season, and Richland is 7-0-0. The Cavaliers return to conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 2, when they host Allen Community College at 4:30 p.m.
