JCCC, KCKCC battle to 1-1 draw

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College men's soccer team held on to his No. 2 spot in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference standings with a 1-1 double overtime draw at cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas Community College, Friday, Oct. 11.  The Cavaliers now stand 7-5-2 overall, and 4-1-2 in conference play. Cowley College is in first with a 6-1-1 record. K 

The Blue Devils (5-5-2/5-3-1) got on the board first when Alejandro Maillet fired a scoring shot past JCCC goalkeeper Pedro Ivaskoski in the 39th minute of the first half. 

Johnson County sophomore defender Luke Andrews knotted the game a 1-1 with his second goal of the season. Freshman defender Kyle Reese provided the assist, his fifth of the season which leads the team and ties him for fifth in the conference. 

Johnson County had several chances to score a second goal, as they outshot Kansas City Kansas 8-2 in the second half and two overtime periods. 

Johnson County has three conference games remaining on their schedule before postseason play begins. They travel to Coffeyville Community College Wednesday, Oct. 16, and to Neosho County Community College Saturday, Oct 19.  The Cavaliers finish the regular season at home against conference leading Cowley on Monday, Oct. 21.
