OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The 10th-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball team saw its chance to play for the Region VI championship come to an end with 1.8 seconds remaining in overtime.

Kansas City Kansas Community College sophomore guard Nina Collier hit the late second game wining 3-pointer to give the 7th-ranked Lady Blue Devils (27-4) a 79-76 overtime victory over the Lady Cavaliers (27-5). It was the last of a record 17 treys that KCKCC made on the day.

The game got to overtime after KCKCC's Caitlyn Stewart banked in a 3-pointer in final seconds of regulation. Stewart had only made 17 treys on 56 attempts during the season, but was 3-for-3 in the fourth quarter.

In a battle of top nationally ranked teams, the game featured 16 ties and 11 lead changes. Both teams also shot better from 3-point range than their overall field goal percentages.  JCCC made 11-of-25 3-point attempts for 44 percent, and KCKCC was 17-of-38 for 44.7 percent.

Johnson County had three players finish in double figures scoring, led by sophomore guard Jacionna Stowers. She poured in 18 points and hit three treys to bring her season total to 93 and her career total to 188. Her 93 3-pointers this season rank sixth nationally and sixth on JCCC's season chart. Her 188 career treys fall one shy of the career mark set last year by Kylie Williams.

Stowers also finishes her career with 795 total points, which places her 21st on the all-time career chart at the college.

In addition to Stowers' 18 points, freshman forward KK Jackson-Morris added four threes and 15 points and freshman guard Brandi Thibeaux finished with 12 points.

Sophomore guard Paige Elston closed out her career with nine points, seven rebounds and three assists, and sophomore forward Juella Brown also closed the book on her time at JCCC with eight points and seven boards.
