OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The starting five for the No. 4-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball scored 70 in the Lady Cavaliers 83-59 win at Metropolitan Community College Wednesday night. 

Freshman guard Jaylen Townsend and sophomore guard Dallie Hoskinson combined for 19 points in the first quarter to help the Lady Cavaliers jump out to a 10-point advantage. Johnson added to their lead in the second and blew the game open in the third, outscoring the Wolves 23-to-9. 

Townsend went on to finish with a game and season high 19 points. She was 7-of-12 shooting, with four 3-pointers and a free throw.  Hoskinson finished with 16 points eight rebounds and two assists. 

Freshman forward LaJahda Boyland also established a new season high for points in a game, finishing with 17 on 8-of-13 shooting. She also snagged 13 rebounds to register her fifth double-double of the season. 

Sophomore forward KK Jackson-Morris finished with 12 points and eight boards, and sophomore guard Christen Curry added six points and team-high three assists. 

Metropolitan was led by Mackenzie Callaway with 21 points, followed by Kianna Lane with 17. 

With the victory, the Lady Cavaliers improve to 15-1 on the season, while the Wolves drop to 4-9 overall. Johnson County quickly returns to action tonight hosting Bethany College JV at 6 p.m., and then travel to Lindsborg, Kan., Sunday to complete the home-and-home series with the Swedes.
