Cavaliers set scoring record in 142-65 rout of Kansas Christian JV

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore forward Tavian Cruse and freshman guard Avian Webb led a balanced attack as the Johnson County Community College men's basketball team rolled to a 142-65 victory over Kansas Christian College JV Friday night. Both finished with 21 points, with Cruse adding 10 rebounds and Webb dishing out seven assists.

They were two of seven Cavaliers in double figures. Sophomore guard Aidan Wing added 20 points, while freshman River Peters and sophomore Joey Robinson each scored 16. Freshman forward Bryce Walker contributed 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for a double-double, and freshman guard Trey Fulcher chipped in 13 points off the bench. Sophomore Gavin Harvey narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and eight assists.

The Cavaliers were nearly unstoppable offensively, shooting just under 70 percent from the field. JCCC jumped out to a double-digit lead within the first three minutes and held a commanding 72-35 halftime advantage.

The 142 points mark the highest single-game total in the 56-year history of the program, while the 77-point margin ties the second-largest victory ever recorded.

Johnson County (1-0) continues its busy weekend hosting Ottawa JV on Saturday and Avila JV on Sunday.
