OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced that Johnson County pitcher Elsa Carrillo has been selected the Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week for week seven.

The freshman right-hander picked up two victories for the Cavaliers last week. Carrillo hurled a complete-game shutout against Dawson on Tuesday, scattering five hits with no runs and four strikeouts over five innings. On Thursday at Iowa Western, Carrillo relieved starter Jalin Lavers after an inning and a third and shut down the Reivers over the next 6.2 innings. Carillo allowed no runs and just three hits while striking out a season-high eight batters in relief as the Cavaliers picked up an 11-8 win. For the week, Carillo hurled 11.2 scoreless innings while striking out 12 batters.
