Bresette leads top-ranked Cavaliers to 6-0 rout at Pratt

OVERAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team continued its dominant season with a commanding 6-0 road victory over Pratt Community College Wednesday evening, extending its unbeaten streak to 16 straight matches.

Freshman midfielder Jade Smallwood opened the scoring in the 20th minute with her fourth goal of the season, assisted by freshman Chaselyn Nichols. Nichols later found the back of the net herself, scoring the first goal of the second half to complete a three-point performance.

Sophomore midfielder Tatum Bresette turned in a standout effort, assisting on a first-half goal by sophomore Lily Marshall before adding two goals of her own to give the Cavaliers 3-0 and 6-0 leads. Sophomore forward Jill Lenherr added the other tally, while Iliana Garcia, Carson Sloan, and Isabel Espino each contributed an assist.

Reigning NJCAA Division II Goalkeeper of the Week Avery Young made three saves in 60 minutes of action to improve her record to 15-0-0. Sophomore Lena-Marie Winkler finished out the match in goal, stopping two shots to preserve the team's 13th shutout of the season.

The top-ranked and undefeated Cavaliers (15-0-1) travel to Beatrice, Nebraska, on Saturday, October 18, to face Southeast Community College.
