Three Cavaliers chosen for all-conference honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference released its 2018 men's soccer all-conference performers, and Johnson County Community College had three players earning All-East Jayhawk recognition. 

Freshman midfielder Marcos Vinicius was a first-team selection, while second-team honors went to sophomore forward Sung Min Cho and freshman defender Luke Andrews

Vinicius played and started in 17 of the Cavaliers 19 games defensive midfielder. He was part of a defensive unit that produced a goals against average of 2.20 with one shutout. One the offensive end, Vinicius scored two goals and had two assists for six points. Both of his goals came in a 6-2 loss at nationally Tyler on Sept. 28. His two scores came 11 minutes apart in the first half. 

Cho, the team's MVP last year, finished second on the team in points with 19 and goals scored with seven. He tied for third in assists with five.  He tied for 12th in the conference in goals and points and 16th in assists. He scored two goals, including the game winner, in a 3-0 win at Southwestern Illinois on Aug. 26. That started a string of five straight games scoring at least one point. 

Andrews started 18 of the Cavaliers 19 games at defender. He was part of a defensive unit that produced a goals against average of 2.20 with one shutout. He also helped on the offensive with one goal and one assist. His goal came in the 37th minute of a 2-1 win at Neosho County on Sept. 25. He also assisted on JCCC's first goal in a 5-2 win at Coffeyville Oct. 17.
