OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College men's soccer team won three big matches last week to push them to the top of the Kansas Jayhawk Conference standings. Two players who were key in those victories for freshman forward Ramon Bravo and sophomore goalkeeper Pedro Ivaskoski, and the conference recognized their efforts by awarding them the player and goalkeeper of the week for week 5.  Ivaskoski shared the goalkeeper of the week honor last week as well. 

Bravo led the Cavaliers to three victories last week. He scored four goals in three games, and netted the game winning goal in all three victories. Bravo scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Kansas City Kansas. He tallied the first score in a 3-0 win over Coffeyville and fired a game winner late in double overtime to pull out a 2-1 win over Southwestern Illinois. Bravo leads the team with eight goals and 18 points this season. His eight goals scored rank fifth in the conference and he leads the conference with four game-winning goals.

Ivaskoski allowed just one goal in 244 minutes in net and picked up three victories last week. He saved 9-of-10 shots faced in a 2-1 win over Kansas City Kanas to open the week. He followed with six saves and a shutout over Coffeyville, and capped the week with three saves and no goals allowed in a double overtime win over Southwestern. In the win over SWIC, Ivaskoski played the first half, then returned to the nets for the two overtime periods. For the week he saved 18-of-19 shots and posted a save percentage of .947.
