Seven Cavaliers earn All-KJCCC men’s soccer honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Seven members from the Johnson County Community College men's soccer team were among those selected to the All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference teams.  Four players were named to the first-team, and three earned second-team honors. Additionally, JCCC head coach Fatai Ayoade was named co-coach of the year with Cowley coach Ray Vaz. 

First-team was awarded to sophomore midfielder Brad Tulley, sophomore forward Marcos Vinicius, sophomore defender Luke Andrews and freshman defender Chavoy Malcolm, who was also selected as Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the East Division.  Freshman forward Ramon Bravo, freshman defender Kyle Reese and sophomore goalkeeper Pedro Ivaskoski were second-team selections. These seven helped the Cavaliers to a 12-6-1 record and a runner-up finish in the Plains District Tournament. 

Tulley tallied seven goals, six assists for 20 points in 2019, second-best on the team in all three categories.  He led the team with five game-winning assists, which is the second highest total in team history. Tulley tied for 14th in the conference in goals, tied for sixth in assists and tied for 11th in points. 

Vinicius, who was also a first-team all-conference selection last year, finished the season with two goals and a team-leading seven assists for 11 points, third-most on the team. He ranked second with four game-winning assists, which ties him for third on JCCC's season chart. 

Andrews, Maclolm and Reese were part of a defensive unit that posted a goals against average of 1.14, fifth-best in the league, with seven shutouts, which were the third-most in the KJCCC. All three also helped out on the offensive end of the field. Andrews had one score. Maclolm registered three goals and an assist for seven points. His third score proved to be the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Rich Mountain in the Plains District semifinals.  Reese scored one goal and dished out five assists for seven points. His five assists were third-most on the team. 

Bravo led the team in goals scored with 10 and points with 22. He also had two assists. Five of his 10 goals were game-winners, which tied for the lead in the KJCCC, and tied for eighth in the NJCAA. That total also ranks him tied for second all-time in team history. Bravo was twice selected the KJCCC Player of the Week, earning the honor in weeks 5 and 10. 

Ivaskoksi finished 12-6-1 with six full shutouts, one shared shutout, 121 saves and with a goals against average of 1.19. He played in 1,893-minutes, 20-seconds and posted a save percentage of .829. He led the conference for the second straight season in minutes played, starts and saves. He also tied for the conference lead in wins, second in shutouts, third in save percentage and fifth in GAA.  Ivaskoski also led the nation in minutes played and games started, and he ranked fifth nationally in saves and tied for sixth in shutouts. Four times during the season Ivaskoski was selected the KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week, earning the honor in weeks  4, 5, 9 and 10. For his career, Ivaskoski finished with a 21-14-4 record and seven shutouts. He logged 3,6011-minutes, 26-second, which is a new career record at JCCC. He also set a new career mark for saves with 250 and ranks second all-time in career wins.
