Cavaliers down Garden City 6-nil

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County men' soccer team notched it second victory of the season, downing Garden City 6-0 Saturday, May 1 at the JCCC Soccer Complex. 

The Cavaliers netted five first half goals, three in a span of five minutes, to improve to 2-7-0 on the season. 

Sophomore midfielder Aturo Rodriguez scored one goal and assisted on two others to lead Johnson County. 

Freshman defender Nick Wood got the party started in the 13th minute with his first goal of the season. Freshman forward Ish Cisse provided the assists, his first of the year. Wood's goal would prove to be the game winner. 

Rodriguez made it 2-nil in the 16th minute off a feed from freshman forward Bryan Coss, also his first assists of the season. 

One minute later, Rodriguez feed freshman forward Ashton Owen to put the Cavaliers up 3-0.  Four minutes after his goal, Owen found freshman defender Brett Harding for a score, his second of the season. 

Rodriguez picked up his second assist in the game when he found freshman midfielder Sam Brewer in the 44th minute to up JCCC advantage to 5-0. 

Sophomore forward Eduardo Goulart added another goal in the 80th minute. Freshman midfielder Zek Adum was credited with his first assist. 

Freshman goalkeeper Brandon McGaugh had his best match between the pipes this season. He stopped all six shots he faced for his first collegiate shutout.  McGaugh currently ranks second in the conference with 46 saves on the year.
