OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County men's soccer team snapped its three-game losing streak by breaking out with eight goals in an 8-2 home victory over Hesston, Wednesday afternoon.  The Cavaliers netted three goal in the first period and five in the second. Their eight goals are the most since an 8-1 victory over Dakota County Tech in the 2015 season opener. 

The star of the game was freshman forward Alan Lopez. He provided the assist on Johnson County's first four goals, tying the school record with four other players. He then scored Cavaliers fifth goal to give a season high six points in the game. 

Freshman midfielder Diego Olivas scored twice and had an assist. Freshman forwards Evan Burns and  Johan Hernandez each had a goal and an assist, and the three remaining goals were scored by sophomore midfielder Troy Henry, freshman forward Faisal Arshad and freshman midfielder Rajae Lawrence. Freshman forward Cali Gutierrez had one assist. Burns goal in the 44th minute proved to be the game winner. 

Freshman goalkeeper Cole Stewart stopped four of six shot on goal and improved to 4-1-0 on the season. His 1.98 goals against average for the season ranks seventh in KJCCC D-I. 

Johnson County travels to Garden City on Friday, October 1, then return home to host Cowley on Monday, October 4 and Coffeyville on Wednesday, October 6.
