Cavaliers post third straight shutout downing Central 4-0

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County men's soccer team dominated play in the first half against Central netting three goals on their way to a 4-0 shutout Wednesday afternoon. It was the third straight victory for the Cavaliers and all three wins have come by shutout.  JCCC has outscored their opponents 16-nil over that stretch. 

The last time Johnson County posted three consecutive shutouts was during the 2010 season, and the last time it was accomplished at home was in 2004. 

Freshman midfielder Caden Hoehns started the scoring for JCCC with an unassisted goal at 20:46. It was his first goal of the season.

The Cavaliers netted two more goals in the next 11 minutes for a 3-0 lead at the break. Freshman midfielder Ryan Hanson notched his first collegiate goal in the 26th minute off feeds from freshman midfielder Homer Skidmore and sophomore defender Peyton Hylok, and freshman forward Jacksyn McIntyre found the back of the net in the 31st minute, his fifth of the season, with the assists going to sophomore forwards Alan Lopez and Faisal Arshad. Lopez ranks second in the NJCAA with six total assists and fourth overall in points with 16. 

Skidmore capped the scoring in the 61st minute off a pass from Hylok. It was his third goal of the campaign. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Brandon McGaugh stopped four shots to earn his second shutout of the season and fourth of his career. He is 4-2-0 this season with a goals against average of 1.26 which ranks 24th in the NJCAA. He also has 30 saves with rank fifth nationally.

Johnson County will look to extend its win streak to four straight while earning its first conference victory when they host Garden City on Saturday, September 10 at 2 p.m.
