Cavaliers down No. 16 Coffeyville 1-0 on the road

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – In a battle of two top-20 teams, the No. 19-ranked Johnson County men's soccer team upset No. 16 Coffeyville on the road 1-0 Wednesday nigth, pushing the Cavaliers win streak to seven straight games. The last time a JCCC men's soccer team won seven in a row was during the 2016 season. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Brandon McGaugh, a two-time conference keeper of week recipient, stopped all seven shots he faced for his fourth shutout this season and sixth for his career. He now stands 6-2-0 and lowered his goals against average to 0.96, third lowest in the conference. 

The match was tied at 0-0 until sophomore defender Micah O'Garro fired a shot to the back of the net in the 57th minute for what proved to be the game winner. It was his third goal of the season and fifth of his career. Sophomore defender Dalton Shipley and freshman midfielder Caden Hoehns each were credited with an assist. 

Johnson County turns right around for another big match against a ranked opponent.  The Cowley Tigers, the No. 4 team in the country, comes to campus on Saturday, October 1 for a 3 p.m. tilt. This will be the fourth ranked opponent JCCC has faced this season. They stand 3-0-0 in those matches and outscored their opponents 9-1.
