OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College head men's soccer coach Jeff Cole and his team produced the biggest victory in his three-year tenure with the program on Tuesday, downing the No. 5-ranked Barton Cougars 2-1 on the road. The victory not only was his first against a top-5 ranked opponent, but it also earned the No. 18-ranked Cavaliers a share of the Kansas Jayhawk Conference East Division championship with Neosho County.

This is JCCC's first championship since 2016, and sixth overall.

Barton got on the board first with an unassisted goal by Diego Viet in the 21st minute, but the Cavaliers quickly tied the game at one apiece in the 30th minute when freshman forward Jacksyn McIntyre found the back of the net off a feed from sophomore forward Johan Hernandez. It was McIntyre's eight goal of the season.

It remained tied until the 72nd minute when McIntyre fed sophomore forward Alan Lopez for his team-leading 11th goal of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brandon McGaugh stopped six of the seven shots he faded to earn the victory and improve to 9-2-0 on the season.

Barton outshot Johnson County 14-to-5, but the Cavaliers made both of their shots on goal count to improve to 12-6-0 on the season, while the Cougars fell to 14-4-0.
