Vic Castillo

In 1976, JCCC added soccer to its list of competitive sports and hired Vic Castillo to lead the team.  In what would be his only season at JCCC, Castillo led the Kansans as they were known then, to a 8-4 record.

Dean Zagortz

Dean Zagortz took over the program in 1977 and led JCCC to its first NJCAA Region VI title.  Zagortz would led the Cavaliers for six seasons, compiling a 63-38-3 record.  He closed out his career at JCCC the same way he began, winning a region title while posting a school record 16 wins.  During his tenure, he coached three All-Americans and 13 All-Region VI performers. 

Dan Daily

Dan Daily became JCCC’s third coach in 1983.  He led the program for seven seasons, registering 68 wins, currently the third highest total in school history.  Daily compiled a 68-53-9 record, good for a winning percentage of .558.  During his tenure, he led JCCC to three Region VI titles, two in his first two years at the helm.  He also coached five NJCAA All-Americans, including a first-team selection, the program’s first.  Daily also coached 23 All-Region VI performers.

Jim Schwab

A veteran coach of 10 seasons at JCCC, Jim Schwab set a standard of excellence that is unmatched in Cavalier soccer history and among NJCAA soccer programs.  He compiled an impressive 156-45-7 mark, making him the winningest coach in school history.  During that span, he has led the Cavaliers to five Region VI titles, four consecutively from 1993-96, been honored as the Region VI coach of the year in each of those seasons, and led JCCC to their only appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament.  Schwab’s teams have racked up an average 16 wins a season at JCCC.  He has coached four NJCAA All-Americans, one NSCAA All-American, three academic All-Americans and 37 All-Region VI performers.  In addition, 10 of his former players have been drafted or signed professional contracts.

Fatai Ayoade

Fatai Ayoade served 30 seasons with the JCCC men’s soccer program, 20 as head coach from 2000-2019. He posted a 231-156-26 record, won four Region VI titles, five Kansas Jayhawk Conference titles, reached the NJCAA National Tournament twice, placing third in 2001 and fifth in 2014. He stands first in school history and second in Region VI history in wins, and was ranked among the top-10 active coaches at the end of 2019 season, his final year with the prorgram. Five times in his career Ayoade was selected as the KJCCC/Region VI Coach of the Year, including a co-honor in 2019. In 2001 and 2004 he was named the NSCAA/adidas Central Region Coach of the Year, and was a candidate for National Coach of the Year both seaons. In his 20 seasons, Ayoade coached four NJCAA All-Americans, four NJCAA All-Tournament performers, three NSCAA All-Americans, 66 All-Region VI selections and 94 Kansas Jayhawk Conference performers. Off the field, he produced 30 of the 32 NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete award winners. He also had two athletes selected as JCCC Outstanding Students, and three selected to the 10-member NSCAA Scholar All-America Team in 2013.
