Weigel, Dixon named KJCCC D-II Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College earned a sweep of the weekly Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference honors as freshman outfielder Megan Weigel and sophomore pitcher Kerrigan Dixon were selected the Player and Pitcher of the Week for week 4. 

Weigel hit .365 (4-for-11) with three doubles, three runs scored and drove in four runs competing at the Crowder Bash in Joplin, Mo., last week. She also was perfect in the field, making five putouts.  For the season, she is hitting a .267 clip. 

Dixon logged 12.2 innings and struck out eight batters last weekend at the Crowder Bash. She opened with a 5-4 loss to NEO A&M. Dixon allowed five runs off seven hits with three strikeouts. In her second outing, Dixon allowed just one run off four hits and struck out five batters to earn the victory. 

For the season Dixon in 2-2 with an ERA of 2.63 and 20 strikeouts in 29.1 innings pitched. She is also batting .297 (5 for-17) with a double, triple, home run and two driven in. 

Last year, Dixon earned Pitcher of the Week in consecutive weeks, nabbing the honor in week six and seven.
