OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College softball team returned to the national rankings for the first time since the preseason poll, taking over the 12th spot this week. After some early season struggles, the Lady Cavaliers have caught fire and have won 12 of their last 15 games and lead the Kansas Jayhawk Conference with an 11-1 record. They are 15-8 overall. 

Freshman outfielder Emily Fox is the team's top hitter with a .369 batting average. She also leads the team with 24 hits, 15 runs and 21 RBIs. 

Sophomore first baseman/pitcher Kerrigan Dixon is having a solid season at the plate and in the circle. She is batting .364 with four doubles, a team-best two triples, a home run and nine RBIs. As a pitcher, she is 9-3 with 75 strikeouts and an earned run average of 1.31, which currently ranks second in the conference. 

Freshman outfielder Megan Weigel just might have the most powerful bat in the Johnson County lineup. She has 14 hits this season, but 10 have gone for extra bases. She leads the team with seven doubles. She also has a triple and two home runs. 

Johnson County will look to improve to 13-1 in conference play when they face fifth-ranked Highland Community College Thursday afternoon at Highland, Kan.  The Scotties are 19-9 overall and 8-4 in conferecne play. The recently were swept by Cowley College on Tuesday, April 9.
