OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore Kelsy Orender has been selected Kansas Jayhawk Division II Conference Softball Player of the Week for week 10. She is the first JCCC player to be selected this season. Sophomore Kerrigan Dixon earned Pitcher of the Week in week 7.

Playing as the team's designated player last week in a double header against Iowa Western Community College, Orender hit .571 (4-for-7) with a double, two home runs, two runs scored and six runs driven in helping lead the Lady Cavaliers to a sweep.  In the opener, she had a double and a home run to drive in a career-best five runs. That ties the 20-best game in team history, and she joins 24 former players to have recorded five RBIs in a single game.

In the second game, she belted a solo home run, her second of the series and season. She also pitched a scoreless seventh inning to help preserve the 11-4 win.

For the season, Orender is batting .439 (18-for-41) with five doubles, two homers, 12 runs and 14 driven in.
