OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and Region VI/District D announced the 2019 softball postseason awards this week.  Nine Johnson County Community College athletes were honored as all-conference performers, and seven those also appeared on the All-Region VI/District D teams. 

Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Kerrigan Dixon earned first-team all-conference honors. Second-team went to sophomore second baseman Torey Burkhardt and sophomore catcher Kerry Murphy. Sophomore DP Kelsy Orender, sophomore first baseman Jordyn Clough, freshman infielder Dez Duncan, freshman outfielder Emily Fox, freshman outfielder Ivy Brewer and freshman outfielder Megan Weigel were honorable mention selections. 

Dixon, Murphy and Fox the Region VI/District B first-team selections, and Orender, Duncan, Brewer and Weigel earned second-team honors. 

Dixon earns her second All-KJCCC and All-Region VI/District D honors for her career. This season, has made 21 appearances in the circle, 16 as a starter with 12 complete games and two shutouts. She has a record of 14-4 with 98 strikeouts in 117.1 innings with a conference-best 1.32 ERA. She also ranks ninth in the conference in wins, 10th in complete games and 11th in strikeouts. Twice during the season she was selected as the conference pitcher of the week, earing the honor in weeks four and seven.  She is also batting .359 (28-for-79) second-best on the team, with six doubles, two triples, a home run, 14 runs and 14 RBIs. She has eight multiple-hit and three multiple-RBI games. 

Burkhardt, who also completed for the JCCC volleyball team, is batting .216 (8-for-37) with two doubles, seven runs scored and five driven in. She also has three stolen bases. This season Burkhardt has been a key player in the field with her glove play. In 83 total chances, she has just four errors, for a fielding percentage of .952. 

Murphy earns her second Region VI/District B honor, and is an all-conference pick for the first time. She is batting .344 (31-for-90) with five doubles and a team-best six home runs, 20 runs scored and 27 RBIs. She ranks second on the team in hits, in RBIs total bases (54) and walks (14). She has eight multiple-hit games and six multiple-RBI games. 

This is Orender's second Region VI/District D selection, and first to be an all-conference pick. Orender is batting .435 (20-for-46) with five doubles, two home runs, 14 runs scored and 15 drive in.  Her batting average leads the team. She has six multiple-hit games and four multiple-RBI games. Earlier this season she had a three hits, including a double and a home run and drove in a career-best five runs in a 9-4 win over Iowa Western. She followed with a solo home run in game two against the Reivers to help JCCCC to an 11-4 win. Those performances earned the KJCCC Player of the Week for week 10. 

Clough is batting .296 (24-for-81) with a team-best nine doubles a home run, 15 runs scored and 13 driven in. She has five multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI games. Clough also has just four errors in 168 fielding chances for a percentage of .976. 

Duncan is batting .333 (14-for-42) with a home run, 14 runs scored and six RBIs. She ranks second on the team with 12 stolen bases, and she has only been caught one time. Duncan also has just one error in 42 chances for a percentage of .976.  She has five multiple-hit games and one multiple-RBI game. 

Fox is batting a .355 clip (39-for-110) with seven doubles, two triples, three home runs, 15 stolen bases, 28 runs scored and 33 driven in. She leads the team in hits, runs, RBIs and steals. She is tied for the lead in triples and ranks second in doubles and third in batting average. Fox has 12 multiple-hit games and eighth multiple-RBI games. 

Brewer is batting .264 (23-for-87) with a triple, three home runs, 23 runs scored and 15 driven in. Her three homers tie for second on the team. She also has swiped all seven stolen base attempts. Brewer has six multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI games. 

Weigel is batting .275 (22-for-80) with seven doubles, a triple, two home runs, 18 runs scored and 12 RBIs. She has six multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI games. Earlier in the season, Weigel was selected the KJCCC Player of the Week for week four following her solid play at the Crowder Bash.
