OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County sophomore Riley Porter provided the game winning assist and scored the clinching goal to lead the Lady Cavaliers to a 3-1 home victory over cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas Wednesday night. 

Both teams had chances on offense, but Johnson County was able to capitalize on their opportunities. In the first half, the Lady Cavaliers netted two goals, first by sophomore Lexi Dillon in the 9th minute. Freshman Megan Everhart provided the assist. 

Sophomore Sheryah Gavel teamed up to put JCCC up 2-0 in the 33rd minute. Gavel's goal proved to be the game winner. 

Kansas City Kansas cut their deficit to one with a score in the 60th minute by Jana Ritcher, but Porter iced the game with her fifth goal of the season in the 84th off an assist from freshman Jillian Rogers.

Johnson County (7-8-0) travels to Dodge City to face the 2-8-1 Conquistadors on Sunday, October 16 at 1 p.m.
