JCCC Women’s Soccer All-Americans 

Amy Antonich
Goalkeeper (1999-00)
1999 NJCAA 2nd-Team

Amy Antonich earned NJCAA second-team All-American honors at a position she did not expect to play. She began the season as one of the team’s starting forwards, and she netted two goals in a 9-0 win over Neosho County early in the season’s third game.  She followed with another two-goal effort in an 11-0 blowout of Neosho County.  But Antonich found her calling when she took over in the nets when Angie Mulhall suffered a medical problem that ended her season.  Her first game in net, Antonich posted a 1-0 shutout over a nationally ranked Meramec squad. She went on to win 14 straight, allowing just one goal.  Twelve of her 14 wins were shutouts.  Antonich finished with a 14-1 record and a goals against average of .27, which ranks No. 1 in the country.  Antonich returned up front her sophomore season, and led the team with 17 goals scored and 50 points.  Her 16 assists were second on the team.  She was also voted the player in the Region VI. 

Tracy Kesterson
Forward (1999-00)
1999 NJCAA 2nd-Team

Tracy Kesterson earned selection to the NJCAA second-team in 1999, and along with teammates Connie Studna and Amy Antonich, became the program’s first All-American athletes in women’s soccer.  Kesterson produced a monster season and set a standard that may never be matched.  She netted 26 goals, assisted on 19 other goals, totaling 71 points.  Those marks are the best all-time at JCCC, male or female.  Kesterson netted the program’s first goal in a loss to nationally ranked Lewis & Clark in the season’s first game.  Kesterson had seven multiple goal games, three hat tricks and eight game winning goals.  She followed with another outstanding season.  She netted 12 goals and assisted on 17 others for 41 points.  During the season, she became the first and only player in JCCC women’s soccer history to top 100 points for a career.  She closed out her career with 112 points on 38 goals and 35 assists.  All three were program records. 

Connie Studna

Before the season began, head coach Jim Schwab said Connie Studna  was one of the top sweepers in the country, and after the 1999 season, the rest of the country thought so too.  Studna helped direct a defense that has allowed just 11 goals all season and had 13 shutouts, including six straight at one point   But what made Studna so valuable was her ability play on the offensive end as well.   She  came forward to score 21 goals and assists on eight others for 50 points, which ranked her among the nation’s scoring leaders.  Studna netted the program’s first hat trick in an 8-0 win over Allen County, and followed with two goals and an assist in a 5-2 road win against Florissant Valley.  She  netted her second hat trick of the season in a 10-0 home win over Rose State (10-23-99).  In all, she had five multiple goal games.

Hanna Soderstrom

2000 United Soccer Coaches 3rd-Team

Hana Soderstrom became the first player in Johnson County women’s soccer history to garner United Soccer Coaches All-American honors.  A native of Sweden, Soderstrom emerged as the team’s most balanced athlete.  She constantly drew the duties of marking some of the opponents best attacking players.  While a force to be reckoned with on defense, Soderstrom also possessed the technical ability and speed necessary to make a major impact up front.  Soderstrom netted eight goals and assisted on five others, finishing with 21 points.  Her 21 points rank as the 10th-best in JCCC history.  She closed out her career with 29 points. 

Jenny Wallen

2001 United Soccer Coaches

Jenny Wallen became the second player from JCCC to earn both NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches All-America status.  A native of Sweeden, Wallen emerged as the dominant force of the JCCC attack in 2001, and along the way etched her name among the best to play the game.  Wallen netted a team-high 25 goals, one shy of the school record set by 1999 All-American Traci Kesterson.  She also assisted on 17 goals, bringing her season point total to 67, the second highest in JCCC history.  That total also ranked her third on JCCC career list.  Additionally, her 17 assists were the third highest season total in Lady Cavalier soccer history.  In just her second collegiate game, Wallen netted her first hat trick.  She also had three assists, giving her nine total points, the second-highest single game total in history.  Wallen went on to register three hat tricks and eight multiple-goal games.  She also was credited with seven game-winning goals. 

Jennifer Johnson
Defender (2001-02)
2002 NJCAA 3rd-Team

Jennifer Johnston became the first defender from JCCC and Region VI  to earn All-America accolades.  Johnston was a steady player who helped stabilize the defense.  She also was a team leader on the field for JCCC over her two seasons.  Johnston masterfully directed a JCCC defense that allowed only 10 goals all season, and registered 13 shutouts.  She also came forward to help out on the offensive end, netting one goal and adding three assists for five points.  Her freshman year, she was part of a defense that allowed only six goals, and registered 14 shutouts. 

Shannen Taylor

2002 NJCAA 2nd-Team

Shannen Taylor earned selection to the NJCAA second-team in 2002, and along the way etched her name forever in the records at JCCC.  Taylor netted a school record 32 goals, shattering the previous record of 26 held by 1999 All-American Kesterson.  She also assisted on eight goals, bringing her season point total to 72, also a record, one more than Kesterson’s total in 1999.  Early in the 2002 campaign Taylor left her mark in the JCCC record book.  She netted five goals and assisted on three others in the Cavaliers 10-0 win at Barton County Sept. 5.  Taylor’s five goals tied the single game scoring standard established by All-American Amy Antonich against Neosho County in the 2000 campaign.  Her 13 total points were one better than Antonich’s total in that game.  Taylor also had a four-goal game to her credit, and six two-goal efforts.  She scored a goal in every game but two this season.  Taylor also led the team with eight multiple-goal games, and nine of her 32 goals were game-winners, also a team record.

Fivi Mihai

2005 NJCAA Honorable Mention
2005 United Soccer Coaches 1st-Team

A leader on and off the field, Fivi Mihai was earned NJCAA honorable mention All-America and United Soccer Coaches first-team All-America accolades.  Mihai helped guide JCCC to an 18-2-1 mark, a Region VI title and berth in the District Championship.  Mihai tied for team lead in points with 45, led the team in goals with 17.  She was second in assists with 11 and game winning goals with four.  Mihai really elevated her play in the postseason, tallying 11 points, the most in team history.   She scored four goals and three assists in win over Garden City, Hutchinson and No. 8 Butler County.  Her effort earned NJCAA Player of the Week honors. In addition to her All-America honors, Mihai also garnered NJCAA All-Region VI first-team, NSCA All-Region first-team and Kansas Jayhawk Conference first-team accolades.   Mihai also was one of nine JCCC students who were recipients of the Outstanding Student Award for the spring 2006 semester.  Mihai finished her career with 30 goals, 16 assists and 75 points. 

Danielle Blevins

2006 NJCAA Honorable Mention

Danielle Blevins earned NJCAA honorable mention honors in 2006 while etching her name among the  all-time great scorers in team history.  Blevins finished second in scoring nationally to Rachelle Luster, finishing with 102 points.  She scored a school record 39 goals and had 24 assists.  Blevins had nine multiple-goal games, and three hat tricks, including an amazing eight-goal effort against Cloud County in the first round of the Region VI Tournament.  She also had four assists giving her 20 points and a new school record.  Blevins began her collegiate career with a five-goal, two-assist effort against Florissant Valley.  Blevins also earned All-Region VI and Jayhawk Conference first-team honors.

Rachelle Luster

2007 NJCAA 3rd-Team

Rachelle Luster had an amazing freshman season.  She led the nation in scoring with 103 points, shattering JCCC’s scoring record by 31 points.  She finished with 34 goals and a school record 35 assists, breaking the previous season mark at JCCC by 10.  Luster had 11 multiple-goal games and 12 multiple-assist games, including an amazing six-goal, four-assist effort in a win over Allen County, giving her a 16 point game.  She also had a four-goal, three assist game against Cloud County.  Luster was chosen as a second-team NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches performer.  She also earned first-team All-Region VI and Jayhawk Conference honors, and earned both the conference Freshman of the Year and MVP honors. As a sophomore, Luster led the squad in points (69), goals (24) and assists (21) and had three hat tricks and seven game winners. Her 69 points ranked seventh in the nation. That effort earned her a spot on the NJCAA honorable mention All-America team, making her the first and only two-time NJCAA All-American in team history. Luster not only left as the most decorated player at JCCC, she also left as the all-time leader in career points (172), goals (48), hat tricks (6), and game winning goals (15). 

Emily Leeper

2007 NJCAA 2nd-Team

Emily Leeper garnered United Soccer Coaches All-America accolades in 2006, and earned second-team NJCAA honors in 2007. Leeper was part of one of the top scoring offenses in the NJCAA in 2006.  She finished the campaign with 79 points with 31 goals and 17 assists.  In her second collegiate game, Leeper found the net six times in a win over Coffeyville.  She also had a four-goal game against Cloud County and three-goal, five assist effort against Cloud County in postseason play.  Her five assists tie the single-game record at JCCC.  Leeper also earned All-Region VI and Jayhawk Conference first-team honors. In her sophomore season, Leeper finished second in points (66), goals (23) and assists (20). She also tied for second in game winners with three and had five multi-goal games. 

Courtney Hughes

2012 NJCAA 2nd-Team

Courtney Hughes became the 12th player to earn NJCAA All-American, but the first since 2007, when she was selected to the second team following the 2013 season. Hughes led JCCC in virtually every statistical category. She led in points with 77, goals scored with 33 and game winning goals with six. She was second in assists with 11.  Her 77 points rank as the fourth-best in team history, and ranked ninth in the NJCAA. Her 33 goals scored are the third highest season total at JCCC, and ranked tied for sixth nationally. Hughes also set a team record with five hat tricks on the season, including a five-goal effort in a win over Dodge City in the first round of the Region VI Tournament. That effort tied the fourth-best game in team history.  A Kansas Jayhawk Conference and Region VI first-team selection, Hughes also was named the NJCAA and KJCCC/Verizon Wireless Player of Week on two occasions during the season.

Ashlynn Summar
Forward (2014-15)
2015 NJCAA 3rd-Team

Ashlynn Summar became the 13th player to be named All-American, earning third-team honors in 2015. Summar ranked among the leaders in the conference and NJCAA in several statistical categories in 2015. She led the conference and ranked tied for fourth nationally in goals scored with 25. She tied for second in the conference and eighth in the nation in total points with 58.  Her 25 goals scored tie the seventh-best season in team history, and her rank 11th.  Summar had seven multiple-goal matches, including two hat tricks. She also had a string of scoring a goal in 11 straight games, which ranks as the second longest streak in school history.  Summar was twice selected the conference offensive player of the week during the season, and earned national honors one time. For her career, Summar tallied 96 career points which ranks ninth all-time in team history. She also netted 43 goals, tying the fourth-best career total at Johnson County. 

Georgia Vernardakis
Defender (2017-18)
2017 NJCAA 3rd-Team

Gerogia Vernardakis became the 14th player to be named All-American in 2017, but just the second defender in team history. Vernardakis was selected the Defensive Player of the Year for the Kansas Jayhawk Conference and was a first-team All-Region VI selection. Vernardakis also helped out on the offensive end for the Lady Cavaliers. She scored one goal and assisted on five others totaling seven points. Two of her five assists led to game-winning goals. She also earned first-team NJCAA All-Academic honors posting a grade point average of 4.0. As a sophomore, Vernardakis was again selected the KJCCC Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-Region VI pick.  She finished the season with 16 points, six goals and three assists.

Sydney Puetz

2023 NJCAA D-II 1st-Team

Sydney Puetz became the first player in program history to be selected first-team All-American, and third defender. She was a key member of JCCC's defensive corps assisting in shutting down opposoing offenses. Puetz was part of a defensive unit that recorded 13 shutouts and a goals against average of .078, which ranked eighth in the NJCAA. She also helped on the offensive end finshing with two goals and one assist. Puetz was also selected All-Region 6 and All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Confernce D-II first-team.

Alandra Bailey
Midfielder (2023)
2023 NJCAA D-II 2nd-Team

Alandra Bailey was seelcted as a second-team NJCAA D-II All-American after helping to lead JCCC to national runner-up finish. She  finished the season as the team’s third leading scorer with 24 points on eight goals and eight assists. Two of her eight scored proved to be the game winning goal, one of them was against No. 2 seed Northwest Mississippi at the NJCAA D-II National Championship. Baily closed out her career with 14 goals, nine assists for 37 points. Bailey was also selected All-Region VI D-II and All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference D-II first-team.

Montana-Rose Curry

2023 NJCAA D-II 2nd-Team

Montana-Rose Curry became the fourrth defender to be named NJCAA All-American, earning second-team honors in 2023. She was a key member of JCCC's defensive corps assisting in shutting down opposoing offenses. Curry was part of a defensive unit that recorded 13 shutouts and a goals against average of .078, which ranked eighth in the NJCAA. She also helped on the offensive end finshing with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Curry was also selected All-Region 6 and All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Confernce D-II first-team and was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

Sydney Hammett
Midfielder (2023)
2023 NJCAA D-II Honorable Mentin

Syndey Hammett was the fourth JCCC player to be slected as a NJCAA D-II All-American in 2023, earining second team honors. She  finished second on the team in scoring with 27 points with eight goals and 11 assists, tying her with Knight for the most on the team. She had two multiple-assist matches, highlighted by a three-assist effort in a 4-0 win over Central on October 25.  Hammett also had two game winning goals. Her biggest came on the national stage, scoring JCCC’s only goal in a 1-0 victory over No. 1 seed Phoenix in the semifinals at the NJCAA D-II National Championship. She was named to the all-tournament team. Hammett was also selected All-Region VI D-II and All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference D-II first-team.
