OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College head volleyball coach Jennifer Ei announced today that  sophomore setter Ami Dias will continue her playing career at Missouri Western State University in Joplin, Mo.  The St. Joseph, Mo., native will play for coach Marian Carbin, who was the 2017 MIAA Coach of the Year.

"Ami is going to be a positive asset to the Missouri Wester volleyball team," said Ei. "It would not surprise me at all if she emerges as the hardest worker on the team and earning playing time this season. We are so proud of Ami's success at Johnson County, and wish her the best in her career moving forward."

Dias played in 35 matches and 105 sets in 2019, and finished second on the team in assists with 421 and assists-per-set average of 4.01. She also had 120 digs, which were fourth best on the team. She reached double figures in assists in 27 matches last fall, including a career-best 30 in a 3-2 loss to Central Community College.

As a freshman, Dias helped JCCC to a District title and a third-place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament. In her two seasons at Johnson County, she helped the Lady Cavaliers post a 55-18 record.
