Jefferson named KJCCC D-II and NJCAA D-II Softball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County freshman infielder Jaylee Jefferson has been selected both the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Division II and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Softball Player of the Week. 

Jefferson had an amazing weekend for the No. 12-ranked Lady Cavaliers helping them to four big victories. She hit .636 (7-for-11) with three doubles, three home runs, three walks, eight runs scored, two stolen bases and 11 RBI. Six of her seven hits went for extra bases. 

In the opening 21-0 win over Moberly Area, Jefferson drove in five runs in the second inning with an RBI double and a grand slam. She followed with a solo home run in a 10-7 upset win over No. 5 Murray State.

The next day in 20-4 win over State Fair, Jefferson belted a two-run homer in the second inning and drove in two more with a double in the fourth. She also singled in the game, drew a walk and stole a base. She capped the weekend with an RBI double in a 14-0 win over Missouri State-West Plains. She was also solid in defense, recording five putouts, six assists with no errors. 

Through 14 games this season Jefferson is batting .452 (19-for-42) with seven doubles, four home runs, 18 runs scored and 17 driven in.
