The Johnson County Community College gymnasium building (GYM), completed in 1972, is used for sporting events, graduations and other events. The JCCC Gymnasium also houses the offices for the men’s and women’s athletic coaching staff, athletic administration, the locker room facilities, physical education staff, the training staff, the weight rooms and Barbara Gill Fitness Center.
The JCCC Gymnasium has been host to numerous region, district and national championship events. In 1975, JCCC hosted the inaugural NJCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The college would be the host site until 1982. In 2004 and 2014-16, JCCC hosted the NJCAA Women’s Division II Championships. At the 2015 Championship, the JCCC women’s basketball team captured the title with a thrilling buzzer-beating shot against Parkland.
The facility has recently gone through a major renovation which was completed in October, 2018. The original bleacher seats that were installed when the facility opened, were replaced with a VersaTract Telescopic System from Irwin Seating Company. The system was provided with 2,100 Infinity Seat Modules in a navy color, with isle rails and end front rails.
JCCC is also able to maximize fan engagement throughout its basketball games, volleyball matches or graduation with ScoreVision’s video scoreboards and software. From tip-off to the buzzer, initial serve to the set point or the walk across the stage celebration, fans get an experience that rivals a professional arena.
