Jim Dice enters his 16th year as Athletic Facility and Clinic Coordinator, however, he enters his 26th year on staff at the college.  Prior to his recent appointment, Dice has served as an assistant conditioning coach and athletic event manager.  Dice also was a standout athlete.  He was also a former athlete at JCCC.  He competed two seasons in track and field focusing on field events, particularly the javelin. His sophomore year, Dice earned All-Jayhawk Conference and All-East Jayhawk Conference in javelin.  As a freshman, he earned All-EJC in the javelin, discus and hammer.  Dice went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education at UMKC.  

Dice also was an accomplished weightlifter.  He was a member of the U.S. National Weightlifting Team from 1988 to 1995.   In 1988 he was the Junior National Champion in the 110 kilos.  That same year he won captured the silver medal at the Junior Pan America Games in Maricuabo, Venezuela in 1988.  Dice also was a five-time Olympic Festival medalist, winning two golds, two silvers and one bronze, and in 1992 was a U.S. Olympic Trials participant.   Dice also was a three-time collegiate national champion in the 110 kilos, winning in 1988, 1989 and 1991.  He capped his competitive weightlifting career by winning the 1995 100+kilo at the U.S. National championships.   From 1996 to 1999, Dice served as the AAU National Chairperson for weightlifting.  Dice, and his wife, Sarah, have two sons, J.J. and Jospeh.
