Kynli Nelson
Coordinator of Fan Engagement 

Kynli Nelson joined the Johnson County Community College athletics staff in May of 2023 as Coordinator of Fan Engagement. She will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of department marking efforts, with an emphasis on branding and promotion across JCCC seven sports teams. Nelson will lead efforts to enhance the fan experience at JCCC athletics events by growing attendance and engaging students and the Johnson County community. 

Before joining JCCC, Nelson served a year as a Technical Recruiter at Apex Systems where she worked variety of IT clients and team leaders. Nelson also served as Healthcare Administrative Intern and Chiropractic Assistant at Renuva Back and Pain Center. 

Nelson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science at Benedictine College and was honored as a Scholar Athlete. She played three seasons at guard for the Ravens women’s basketball team coached by Chad Folsom. In 2018-19, she played in 22 games, averaging 9.5 minutes, 1.9 points and 0.9 rebounds while helping the Ravens to an 18-13 record overall and berth to the NAIA National Tournament. Her junior year the Ravens again qualified for the NAIA National Tournament and closed out the campaign with a 17-9 mark. 

Her senior year in 2021-22, Nelson served as Assistant Sports Information Director/Coordinator of Public Relations and Marketing at Benedictine College. She helped promote four teams who qualified for their respective NAIA National Tournaments, including the 2021 women’s lacrosse team that captured the program’s first National Championship and the first for the college in 55 years.    

Before Benedictine, Nelson was a three-year starter at Gardner-Edgerton High School. As a senior, she averaged 10.0 points, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals while being named All-Sunflower League and honorable mention All-State.
