Cavaliers sweep series with NCMC with a 92-75 win

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 10 ranked Johnson County men's basketball team improved to 16-3 on the season with a 92-75 triumph over North Central Missouri College Wednesday, sweeping the season series with the Pirates. The Cavaliers won in Trenton, Mo., 104-74 on Dec. 5. 

Johnson County outscored North Central Missouri 16-3 the final 7:32 of the first half to take a 20-point lead into the locker room. 

Sophomore starters Nick Larkin and General William and freshman JaQaylon Mays powered the Cavaliers in the opening half. Larkin scored 14 of his game-high 22 points. He was 6-of-7 shooting, with a three and a free throw. He finished 8-of-12 and 5-of-5 at the line. He also had seven assists, five rebounds and three steals for the game.

 

Williams scored eight of his 10 total points and Mays accounted for all 10 of his points in the half. 

Also in double figures for the game were sophomores Xavier Womack and Berlin Roberson. Womack contributed 11 points and five boards, and Roberson finished with 10 points. 

Sophomore David Turner added eight points and game-high 12 rebounds. 

Jordan Reece and Cameron Lockett were the top scorers for the Pirates, each finishing with 17 points. 

Johnson County has one more non-conference game before clashing with No. 2 and undefeated Highland Community College next Wednesday to open Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference play.  The Cavaliers host Ottawa University JV on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. JCCC defeated the Braves 115-59 in their season opener.
