OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore forward David Turner has been selected the Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for week 10. He is the third player from JCCC to be selected this season. Sophomore Nick Larkin earned the honor in weeks four, five and six, and sophomore guard A.J. Pleasant was the week nine recipient. 

Last week, Turner averaged 15.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and shot an impressive 72 percent from the field while leading the Cavaliers to three blowout wins. 

Turner opened the week with 20 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in a 120-71 win over Graceland JV. He was a 9-of-9 shooting and 2-of-2 at the free throw line. 

He followed with eight points, 12 boards and three blocks in a 92-75 win over North Central Missouri College, and closed out the week with 18 points and six rebounds in a 110-63 win over Ottawa JV. He was 9-of-11 from the field against the Braves. 

For the season, Turner is shooting 68 percent from the field with ranks seventh in the NJCAA, and his 45 blocked shots are fifth-most.  He now has 106 career blocks with ties for second on JCCC's career chart.
