OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – For the second time this season, Johnson County sophomore JaQuaylon Mays has been selected as the Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II Basketball Player of the Week. He earned the week six honor over Mariquise Milton of Highland and Tyler Garrett of Labette. Mays earned his first award in week 3. 

Mays averaged 27.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.3 steals in the Cavaliers three games last week. He also shot 59 percent from the field and 74 percent at the free throw line.  Mays began the week pouring in a career high 30 points in a loss to nationally ranked North Central Missouri. He followed with 29 in win over Sunrise Christian while flirting with a triple-double, finishing with 9 assists and 8 boards. He capped the week with 23 in a one-point loss at Iowa Western.  For the season, Mays ranks fourth in the conference with a 16.2 points per game average.
