Cavaliers improve to 4-1 with 80-71 win over Bethel JV

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 12-ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team improved to 4-1 on the season with an 80-71 victory over Bethel JV, Friday night at JCCC Gymnasium. 

Three Cavaliers finished double figures led by sophomore guard Jayscon Bereal with 20 points. He was 9-of-13 from the field with one 3-pointer and one free throw. He also grabbed six rebounds. 

Sophomore forward Jaland Whitehead posted his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Seven of his boards were on the offensive end. Whitehead currently is ranked second in the conference in scoring at 17.3 points, and leads the league in rebounding at 13.5 per game. 

Desi Williams also contributed 14 points. He made four field goals and was six-of-six at the line. He also pulled down eight rebounds and five assists.

Other top efforts were turned in by  sophomore guard Bing Haung (9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assists); freshman guard Savonni Love (7 points, 5 rebounds); freshman forward Xavier Kahube (6 points, 6 rebounds) and sophomore forward Jacob Coleman (5 points, six assists). 

The Cavalier have a quick turnaround with a 2 p.m. tip off against Bethany JV on Saturday, February 13.
