Cavaliers post back-to-back double-digit wins over Fort Scott and Labette

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After suffering its first loss of the season last weekend, the Johnson County men's basketball team responded with a pair of double-digit victories and now stand 22-1. 

The No. 7-ranked Cavaliers downed Fort Scott 73-57 on Monday night, followed by an 83-65 win over Labette on Wednesday night. 

In the win over the Greyhounds, Desi Williams led the Cavaliers with 18 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists. 

JCCC's top two leading scorers this season, Tymer Jackson and Jaland Whitehead, followed with 15 and 12 points respectively. Whitehead also grabbed nine rebounds. 

Head coach Rand Chappel also got solid efforts from Korey Jones and Cory Davila. Jones contributed eight points and eight boards. Davila posted eight points and eight rebounds. 

Jackson and Whitehead combined for 47 points In the win over Labette. Jackson poured in 26 on 10-of-17 shooting. He also made two 3-pointers and was 4-for-4 at the free throw line.

Whitehead hit 7-of-13 shots with a 3-pointer and hit 6-of-8 free throws for 21 points. He also had a team-high 11 rebounds for his 13 double-double of the season. 

Williams finished with nine points and four assists, and Seth Chargois came in off the bench to contribute 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. 

Johnson County will travel to Hesston on Saturday, and return home to avenge its loss to Kansas City Kansas on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. The Cavaliers game can be heard on 1660 The Bet on the Audacy App.
