JCCC wins fifth straight, move into a three-way tie for first in the conference

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County men's basketball team pulled out a hard-fought 74-69 road victory over Neosho County Wednesday night to extend its win streak to five straight, and movie into a three-way tie with Allen and Kansas City Kansas for first place in the Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference.

The Cavaliers were led by All-American guard and conference leading scorer Tymer Jackson with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting with one 3-pointer. He also made all three free throw attempts and now is hitting just over 83 percent of his attempts, second-best in the league. 

Also in double figures were sophomore forwards Ryan Gordon and Xavier Kahube with 14 and 11 respectively. Gordon also led the team with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. 

Head coach Rand Chappell also got solid efforts from starting guards Kaleim Taylor (8 points, 3 assists) and Josh Jordan (7 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds) and reserve guard Desi Williams (7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) 

The Panthers were led by Tane Krisome with 19 points. 

Johnson County (17-5/5-1) will look to remain on top of the conference standings Saturday, February 4, when they host Allen (16-6/5-1) at 4 p.m.
