OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The 16th-ranked Johnson County Community College baseball team swept the best-of-three series over Garden City Community College with a 4-2 victory on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers downed the Broncbusters in game on Thursday, 13-6.  With the sweep, Johnson County advances to the bracket portion of the Region VI/Central District Tournament May 15-19 at Eck Stadium in Wichita, Kan. 

Sophomore first baseman Malik Williams had a single, double and two-run home run and scored twice to lead the Cavaliers offense.  It was Williams 53 multiple-hit game of his career, which is a team record. He was 5-for-9 with three doubles, a homer, four runs three RBIs in the series. 

Freshman right-hander Trey Ziebenbein recorded a complete game victory, his seventh of the season, and improved his overall mark to 10-3. He gave up seven this and two walks, while striking out five batters. He now has 98 strikeouts for the season. 

Eric Heiman picked up the loss for Garden City. He allowed the four runs off six hit and struck out six over six innings. 

Johnson County (45-10) will face Colby Community College (35-20) on Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. The winner of the tournament advances to the NJCAA Juco World Series in Grand Junction, Colo., May 25 through June 1.
