Cavaliers take first game of series with Pratt

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – It wasn't won of their prettiest victories of the season, but the No. 1 seed Johnson County Community College baseball team (47-10) opened the Region 6/Plains District Tournament with an 8-5 win over Pratt Community College to take a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-three series. 

Miken Miller ripped a two-run double, walked, and scored twice for the Cavaliers. Dagen Brewer and an RBI double, Jordan Black tripled scoring a run and Ryker Edwards collected an RBI single to power JCCC's offense. 

At the top of the order, Jake McClure singled, walked and scored twice, and Maddux Fleck went 2-for-3 and scored twice. 

Right-hander Ryan Borberg started on the bump and earned the victory. He surrendered seven hits and four runs over five and one-third inning, with two strikeouts. Right-hand reliever John Chambers closed out the game allowed one run off two hits with two strikeouts over three and two-third innings. 

Johnson County will look to close the series on Friday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
