Officially dedicated on February, 2020, the Johnson County Community College softball team plays in one of the finest facilities in the Midwest. This new state-of-the-art facility gives JCCC softball one of the top playing surfaces in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference and provides the team opportunities to practice and compete in all type weather conditions, as well as host top-notch amateur softball championships during the year.
A state-of-the-art Sportsturf brand “Fielder’s Choice” has been installed on the entire playing surface, making Johnson County the only college softball program in the state with a full turf field.
A natural grass-colored surface was installed in the outfield, while a traditional clay color will cover the warning track and infield dirt area. Additionally, permanent white lines will be installed for the foul lines and batter’s boxes.
The new facility includes a press box, covered dugouts, bullpen and batting cages and a Musco brand LED lighting system. Also included was a concession stand and bathroom.
This new softball complex replaced the topsoil infield and natural grass outfield that was located on the southwest boundry of campus, and was constructed in the spring of 1991. Prior to the opening this softball complex, the Lady Cavaliers played its games at the Johnson County Girls Athletic Association fields in Shawnee, Kan., now known as Mid-America West Sports Complex.
