The only four sport athlete in the history JCCC athletics, Amy Borders became the first volleyball player to be named to the NJCAA All-American first-team following the 1983 campaign. That season, she led JCCC to a 43-3 record, a region championship and a fifth-place finish in the national tournament. She was also selected to the NJCAA national all-tournament team, the All-Region VI first-team and became the first JCCC volleyball player to earn the Judith K. Bragg award. 

Borders also competed in track and field, basketball and softball.  In 1983, she became the first track All-American at JCCC, placing sixth in the shot put at the NJCAA Outdoor Championship.
