Ed Kaminski garnered two All-American honors competing in the javelin, and in 1988, he was the national champion, the first in JCCC history.  He placed runner-up in 1987.  Kaminski captured the 1987 and 1988 conference and region titles in the javelin.  In his career, Kaminski lost only one time, when he placed second at nationals in 1987.  He set the record in the javelin with a mark of 232'4".  Kaminski went on to become an All-American performer at Arkansas, while helping his team win two NCAA track titles, and finish runner-up one time.  Kaminski was twice honored as an All-Southwest Conference performer while setting a school record in the javelin.  In 1992 and 1996, Kaminski placed seventh and fourth respectively in the javelin at the U.S. Olympic Trials.  In 1993, 1994 and 1995 he won a gold medal at the U.S. Olympic Festival meet.  Kaminski also was a 1993, 1995 and 1997 World Championship participant, and in 1993 he placed second.  He recorded a sixth-place finish at the 1995 Pan American Game, and a fifth-place finish at the 1988 Goodwill Games.  Kaminski ranked in the top-three in the United Sates five times in his career.  He had six top-10 finishes at the U.S. Championships, including runner-up in 1997, and third in 1993, 1994 and 1998.
