In May of 1998, Margarete Howell became the third inductee into the JCCC Hall of Fame. The committee bestowed this honor for her commitment without selfishness to the athletic department. From 1972 to 1999, Howell served as an administrative assistant for the athletic department. She unofficially served as the school’s first track coach when Amy Borders became the college’s first athlete to win a national championship in track at the 1984 NJCAA Outdoor Championships.
