Mark Balderston was one of the first JCCC baseball players to earn All-American honors, joining teammate Bob Downs on the 1974 NJCAA All-America team. Balderston led the 1974 squad with a .447 batting average, 55 hits and 41 runs scored. All three set school records. The 1974 team finished the year with a record of 33-7, and registered a winning streak of 18 games late in the campaign. Balderston continued his education at Phillips University and at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Mo., where he earned a doctor of chiropractic degree. Since 1997, he served as part of the medical team at JCCC.
