JCCC advances to Region 6 title game with 8-5 win over Barton

WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 1 ranked Johnson County baseball team built an 8-0 lead on Barton County then managed to hold on for an 8-5 victory to earn a spot in the Region 6 Championship Game Saturday afternoon at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.

Freshman right fielder Ryker Edwards blasted a three-run home run to put the Cavaliers up 8-0. It was Edwards ninth homer on the season.

Sophomore first baseman Dagen Brewer added to his league leading RBI driving in two runs with a single, double and two sacrifice flies, upping his total to 85 driven in. 

Designated hitter Miken Miller and third baseman Jordan Black also ripped doubles to drive in a run and shortstop Maddux Fleck went 4-for-5 and scored a run. 

Freshman Josiah Golden earned the victory.  The right-hander allowed five runs on seven hits, walked four and struck out eight over six and two-third innings pitched.  Sophomore lefty Michael Infranca pitched the final two and one-third innings, along only one base runner on a base-on-balls. He also struck out two batters to earn his second save on the year.
