OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County softball team did not get the ending to the season they were hoping for when they opened play at the Region 6/Plains District B Tournament at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka, Saturday.

After taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Hesston in an elimination game, the Larks tied the score in the bottom of the inning then sent the Lady Cavaliers home with a run in the bottom of the 10th for a 3-2 victory.

Sophomore first baseman Kaylin Watkins had the team's only RBI in the game. She tallied 30 for the season and 82 over her career which rank 10th all-time at JCCC.

Johnson County right-hander Jordan Harrison allowed eight hits but struck out a season high 11 batters to keep the Lady Cavaliers in the game.

Johnson County opened the tournament with an 11-5 setback against Kansas City Kansas.  The Blue Devils led 9-1 when JCCC came to the plate in the bottom of the fourth. JCCC pulled to within four runs plating four, but that would be the closest they would get.

Freshman DP Allee Brattin led the offense with three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.  Freshman second basemen Toree Hoobler also drove in two runs.

Johnson County closes out the season with a record of 28-18 and ranked 19th in the final NJCAA D-II Poll.
