OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College softball team completed an impressive doubleheader sweep over No. 7-ranked Kirkwood Community College Tuesday at the JCCC Softball Complex, taking the first game 9-0 in five innings, followed by a 2-1 win in the rubber game. With the sweep, the Lady Cavaliers improve to 9-3 on the season.
In the opener, leadoff hitter and right fielder Taryn Burkhardt was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.
First baseman Kate Ediger ripped two doubles and drove in three, pitcher Jordan Harrison was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and third baseman Hannah Archdekin collected two doubles, scored twice and drove in two.
In the circle, Harrison allowed just a single and walk while strikeout out eight batters. She has been selected the conference pitcher of the week the previous two weeks.
In the second game, Ediger had a single, a walk and drove in a run, and second baseman Emma Smith had two hits and an RBI to pace the Lady Cavaliers. Archdekin also picked up two more hits and scored a run.
Maggie McNally went the distance, allowing just one run off four hits with eight strikeouts.
