JCCC softball team sweeps Cloud County

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County softball team traveled to Concordia, Kan., on Thursday, April 6, and came away with a doubleheader sweep over Cloud County, winning 3-2 an 7-1, to improve to 15-5 on the season.

In the opener, freshman first baseman Kate Ediger belted a two-run home run in the top of the second inning, and sophomore catcher Gaige Pinkerton recorded an RBI single in the sixth to pace JCCC's offense.

Sophomore right-hander Jordan Harrison improved to 9-1 in the circle, allowing two runs off five hits while striking out nine batters. 

In the second game, freshman third baseman Hannah Archdekin ripped two doubles and drove in two runs. Sophomore left fielder Lauren Roberts blasted a two-run shot over the fence and Pinkerton picked up a single and a double, scored twice and drove in a run.

In the circle, freshman Maggie McNally recorded a complete game victory. She allowed just one run off five hits and struck out 10 to up her season record to 6-3. 

Johnson County returns to conference play this week with a pair of doubleheaders They host Fort Scott on Tuesday, April 11 and Neosho County on Thursday, April 13. Both series are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
