Harrison tosses perfect game in doubleheader sweep over Hesston

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore right-hand pitcher Jordan Harrison threw the seventh perfect game in the history of Johnson County Community College softball on Wednesday, as she allowed no hits or walks in 12-0 victory over Hesston College.

Harrison retired all 15 batters, eight by strikeout, to up her season record to 13-1 overall. 

At the plate, the Lady Cavaliers scored two runs in both the first and second innings, then blew the game open plating eight runs in the third.

Freshman third baseman Hannah Archdekin drove in four runs with a single and a double, and sophomore shortstop Toree Hoobler, sophomore DP Gaige Pinkerton and freshman center fielder Eve Morris is drove in two runners. 

Johnson County completed the series sweep with an 8-0 victory in the second game.  Freshman right-hander Maggie McNally nearly matched Harrison allowing just one hit in six innings pitched. She also struck out nine batters and now stands 10-3 on the season. 

Pinkerton drove in three runs with a single and a double and Hoober collected two singles a double, scored twice and drove in two to pace the Lady Cavaliers offense. 

Currently No. 19 in the NJCAA D-II Rankings, Johnson County (23-5/12-0) will look to remain unbeaten in conference play when they travel to Highland (17-14/2-6) on Saturday, April 22 for a doubleheader. They return home to host Cowley (26-12/10-0) in a key conference doubleheader on Thursday, April 27.
